The electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy (NEP) and to address sustainable development concerns, there is a need to facilitate the recovery and / or reuse of useful materials from waste generated from a process and / or from the use of any material thereby, reducing the wastes destined for final disposal and to ensure the environmentally sound management of all materials.
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is a term for electronic products that have become unwanted, non-working or obsolete, and have essentially reached the end of their useful life. As per E-waste Rule 2016, the E waste defined as electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part discarded as waste by the consumer or bulk consumer as well as rejects from manufacturing, refurbishment, and repair processes. E-waste contains many valuable, recoverable materials such as aluminium, copper, gold, silver, plastics, and ferrous metals. In order to conserve natural resources and the energy needed to produce new electronic equipment from virgin resources, electronic equipment can be refurbished, reused, and recycled instead of being land filled.
E-waste also contains toxic and hazardous materials including mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium, chromium, and chemical flame retardants, which have the potential to leach into our soil and water.
IMPORTANCE OF E-WASTE
E-waste is considered dangerous, as some electronic products contain materials that are hazardous in nature, depending on their condition and density. If they are not properly disposed of, they can seep lead and other harmful substances into soil and groundwater. Govt. of India has announced E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016 (“Rules”). For more details visit http://moef.nic.in.
According to these Rules, the consumer also now has a legal responsibility to dispose of the waste electrical and electronic equipment (popularly known as “WEEE”) in the prescribed manner and not by just throwing it into an ordinary dustbin or giving / selling it to any local scrap dealer. Proper disposal of E-Waste will help in reducing environmental pollution.
Recycling of E-waste:
The company has tied-up with an authorised PRO for safe disposal of E-Waste collected from all over India. As a part of agreement will collect all our e-waste generated from PAN India and dispose the same. Our PRO has signed an agreement for their logistics service who will help with the collection and channelization of e-waste pan India. Their collection centres details are available on our company website www.creativenewtech.com . The material collected by them will be channelized to our PRO’s recyclers/dismantlers for recycling/dismantling. Customer can reach our office, call, or email us. The representatives will explain about process of disposal and make them aware about nearest drop point available to drop the e-waste. If any customer wants to handover the material from their doorsteps, we can send our logistics team to collect the items and channelize the same to our e-waste partner plant for final processing.
